giant PetroVietnam to

VietNamNet Bridge –
The Ministry of
Education and Training
and the Viet Nam Oil and
Gas Group (PetroVietnam)
will work together to
build an international
standard university in
the country.
Under an accord
cementing the deal, the
potential Oil and Gas
University will produce
graduates of
international quality
and hire foreign
professors for its
faculties.
PetrolVietnam will also
work with the Ministry
of Education and
Training (MET) to dole
out scholarships for
gifted students and
loans for students to
pursue tertiary
education or conduct
scientific research. The
leading petroleum group
has also agreed to admit
university students to
work as interns at its
enterprises.
For the charitable
purpose, PetroVietnam
was committed to fund
the construction and
equipment of labs for
schools and universities
in disadvantaged areas.
“The cooperation between
the two sectors will
open opportunities for
gifted students to be
provided with a job with
the Viet Nam Oil and Gas
Group,” said
PetroVietnam General
Director Tran Ngoc Canh
at the signing ceremony.
Deputy Prime Minister
cum Minister of
Education Nguyen Thien
Nhan said that working
with industry leaders to
provide industry with
specific graduates is
the way forwards for the
country’s tertiary
education requirements.
“Cooperation with local
conglomerates will help
the educational sector
overcome financial
difficulties and improve
educational quality,”
Nhan concluded.
